Pisang Peak climbing is the best way to appreciate the glory of Manang valley along with the adventure of peak climbing. At a glance, Pisang peak is a pyramid-shaped peak that rises above the village the Pisang. The peak is steeply sloped and is made up of ice rocks. The sloppy surface makes climbing a bit difficult however a little knowledge of peak climbing, ropes fixed by the team leader and guidelines of climbing leader makes climbing a bit easy. Climbing activity in itself is a physically demanding activity. The journey of Pisang peak climbing initiates with a drive from Kathmandu to Jagat. From Jagat, we take a trail that leads to Upper Pisang via Dharapani and Chame. An ascend up to Pisang peak base camp and Pisang peak high camp will lead us further to the summit. From the top, we descend down to the beautiful valley of Manang and join a trail that will lead us to Thorong La Phedi. The views of mountains in Annapurna range looks fabulous from the Thorong La pass.  As we cross the pass, we head towards Muktinath. Muktinath is a popular spiritual destination of million pilgrims around the world. We conclude our journey with a walk to Jomsom which is followed by a flight back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

Day 1: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport

Welcome to Nepal! A representative from Nepal Intrepid Treks will pick you up at the airport and escort you to the hotel. Check in the hotel and rest for a while. Fulfill your query about the travel as the representative from Nepal Intrepid Treks will explain you about your journey plans ahead. Spend the night at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and trek preparation

Prepare for a day of immersion into the Nepalese culture, while visiting the most important landmarks of this fascinating city and its outskirts. Our experienced guide will take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO heritage site which represents the political and historical values of Nepalese civilization.

We then proceed to Swayambhu Nath Temple, also known as ‘Monkey Temple’ thanks to its adorable colony of monkeys that run free. This temple is the symbol of harmony between Buddhists and Hindus. At the top of the stupa you will have a splendid birds-eye view of Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings.

We continue to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a holy place for Hindu devotees. Especially interesting is the holy cremation area where preparations and daily cremation ceremonies take place. From here we return to the hotel.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat

Today, we drive towards Besisahar. After around 6 hours’ drive along Trishuli river, we reach Besisahar. We take lunch on the way and take a local jeep or bus from Besisahar to Syange. We enter into Annapurna Conservation where your guide will take our permits and entry tickets. Then we head towards Jagat. Overnight at a guesthouse in Jagat (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 4: Jagat to Dharapani

We descend down through a rocky trail and climb up through forest to Chamje. We cross Marsyangdi Khola and continue walking along the valley. We then climb up steadily until we reach Tal. Tal is the first village in Manang district. We take lunch and continue walking through the valley. We continue ascending up in a stone paved stairway up to some point and continue descending until we cross Marsyandi river. We pass Karte and walk until we reach Dharapani. We stay at a guesthouse in Dharapani for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 5: Dharapani to Chameo

Leaving Dharapani, we steeply climb up for around three hours to reach Timang village. We then have our lunch on the way and start walking on a flat terrain along pine, fir and rhododendron forests to Chame. It takes another three hours to reach Chame. As you approach near Chame, you will be rewarded with the spectacular view of Annapurna II. Chame is the headquarter of the Manang district therefore you will find this place more populated that rest of the region. You can see many guesthouse and lodges ready to cater their customers. You can also find internet cafes, banks and shops that provide trekking gears. We stay at a guesthouse in Chame for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 6: Chame to Upper Pisang

Our walk for the day is comparatively easy as we walk through flat trail that winds up through dense forest in the valley. We re-cross the southern bank of Marsyangdi river and walk to Dhukur Pokhari. We take lunch on the way and continue ahead. We will get a glimpse of rock face of Paungda Danda at Dhukur Pokhari. From here, we climb up steadily and gradually until we reach Pisang. The views of mountains like Pisang Peak, Chulu West, Chulu east, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and Annapurna IV from Pisang is magnificent. We stay at a guesthouse in Pisang for the night. Day 7: Acclimatization Day

Today we explore around the Upper Pisang but stay in the same place for the night. This day is actually set aside for acclimatization purpose. As we gain heights, proper acclimatization gets essential to avoid any altitude related sickness. We utilize the day exploring around the village and admiring the majestic views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Gnagapurna, Mt. Mansalu, Tilicho and many other neighboring peaks. At the end of the day, we stay at the tented camp in Upper Pisang, the same place where we had set up our camp yesterday. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 8: Trek to Pisang peak Base Camp

Leaving Upper Pisang, we ascend up towards the Pisang Peak Base Camp through thin wood and pastures. The pasture at an elevation of 4320 meters, which is also known as Kharka is our stopping point for today. We set up our tent in the grassland with the wilderness of mountains around. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 9: Trek to Pisang Peak High Camp

We walk for another four to five hours until we reach Pisang Peak High Camp. The high camp at an elevation of 5400 metres is full of wilderness. After reaching the high camp, we check our equipment’s and prepare for our climbing journey tomorrow. We stay at a tented camp for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 10: Summit the peak

Today is the most important day of our climbing journey as we summit the peak of Pisang. Leaving high camp, we start climbing along a well-defined ridge with the help of a rope fixed on the ridge. We climb up the snowy slope which is quite steep and technical. However, we follow our leader and climb up the ridge with the help of axe and ropes. After conquering the peak and beholding the glory of Annapurna region, we descend down to Base Camp for the night. Overnight at a tented camp set in the base camp. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 11: Trek to Manang

We continue our journey and walk towards the upper drier part of Manang district. On the way, we pass through the pine forests. The trail winds up all the way to the dry upper part of the Manang district. There are actually two routes that take us to Manang. We take the upper route to Manang i.e. Ghyaru to Ngawal to Mungji. We pass a village of Bragha Gompa where we visit the gompa and move ahead to Manang. As you arrive in Manang, you will be blessed with the fascinating views of Gangapurna and other peaks in Annapurna region. We stay at a guesthouse in Manang for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 12: Trek to Yak Kharka

Today, we start ascending up to Yak Kharka. We climb up steadily to Tenki village and continue our climb up until we leave Marsyandi valley. As we ascend up, we can notice the change in vegetation that gets sparser. Leaving the valley, we turn northwest to the valley to Jarsang Khola. We walk ahead until we reach the meadows where the yaks and other herds can gaze. We then cross a wooden bridge over a stream and pass mani walls to reach Yak Kharka. We stay at a guesthouse in Yak Kharka for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 13: Trek to Thorong La Phedi

Our walking hours for the day is comparatively short. We continue walking along the trail until we reach Thorong Phedi. You can find Thorong Phedi as a busy settlement because it offers the service of accommodation and food to the trekkers and climbers. It is a climbing point for the climbers who would like to summit the peaks in Annapurna region. Today, we relax and sit back to get rid of all the tiredness and recover our energy back. The rest can also be helpful to adapt ourselves with the gaining altitude and wild atmosphere. We stay at a guesthouse in Thorong Phedi for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 14: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass

Today is a long but rewarding day of our entire journey. We cross the Thorong La pass today which is quite challenging. Therefore, we start our climb early in the morning to avoid the bad weather in the afternoon. At around 3 a.m. in the morning, we take our breakfast and climb up steep to reach the Thorong La pass. The pass is marked by the chortens and prayer flags and we can find few tea houses on the way. As we climb up, we will be rewarded with astounding views of towering peaks in Annapurna region. Not to forget, the deepest gorge of Kali gandaki valley will add up to the awesomeness. As we cross the pass, we descend down a slippery path to Muktinath. Overnight at a guesthouse in Muktinath.(Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 15: Trek to Jomsom

Muktinath is one of the popular spiritual centres that hold high value amongst Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. It is a temple of Lord Vishnu and is regarded as a “Muktikhsetra” i.e. a holy spot for liberation or salvation. There is a Buddhist monastery nearby. The major attraction fo this place is the eternal flame that burns continuously due to some natural gas. Enjoy the pinnacles of Dhaulagiri and other peaks in Annapurna range and descend down to Jomsom. Overnight at a guesthouse in Jomsom (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 16: Fly to Pokhara

We take an early flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival, we check into the hotel and enjoy the day sightseeing Pokhara valley and strolling around the lakeside. Visit Lakeside, World peace pagoda, Gupteshwor temple, David’s fall, International Mountaineering museum and many other attractions in Pokhara. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara (Breakfast included)

Day 17: Pokhara to Kathmandu

Leaving the Annapurna region and bidding the picturesque valley of Pokhara a goodbye, we drive along the same scenic route to Kathmandu. As you arrive in Kathmandu, you can rest and make last minute preparation for your flight tomorrow. You can also visit the markets in Kathmandu and opt for last minute shopping if interested. Spend your night at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 18: Leisure Day in Kathmandu

A free day in Kathmandu set aside for resting or sightseeing as per your interest. If you are tired of the trekking journey, you can take a rest. Otherwise, you can opt for sightseeing to Patan or Bhaktapur Durbar Square. You can also enjoy shopping in the malls in Kathmandu. Spend your night at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast included)

Day 19: Farewell

Finally, your journey comes to an end and it’s time to bid you a goodbye. Your guide will transfer you to the airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead.
