Tamang Heritage Trek is a pleasing journey that takes you to the scenic green midlands of Langtang through a newly opened trekking route in between Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The trial of this trek is culturally rich and passes through various charming villages like SyabruBensi, Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, and Buddhism. Tamang Heritage Trek is a bit more than just a natural exploration.
This opportunity allows us to immerse ourselves in the culture, religion, and daily lifestyle of the Tamang community. They provide valuable insights into their way of life. Furthermore, the Tamang community predominantly populates the Langtang region. Moreover, the local inhabitants have been residing here and preserving their own unique culture, religion, tradition, and dialect. Hence, Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is a cultural tour. It helps us encounter an ancient lifestyle of the indigenous people inhabited in the Langtang region.
Tamang Heritage Trek commences from Syabrubensi which is about 8 hours drive from the Kathmandu city. As we march forward, we pass villages like Galtang, Tatopani, Thuman, Timur, Briddhim and back to Syabrubensi. Furthermore, the Tamang community predominantly populates the villages through which we traverse. Moreover, we can also see people of Magar and Tibetan society. Moreover, the residents of these areas actively participate in farming and animal husbandry.
In addition, the people are very creative as they are engaged in basket weaving, wood carving and making other handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers, etc. The residents residing here expose us to the exceptionally unique culture and lifestyle of the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek. They have their own unique rituals, culture, festivals, dialects, traditional architecture, costumes and local dances. At Golijung and Gatlang VDCs, you can enjoy the traditional dances –performed by the local people.
On the way, somewhere in between the Tamang Heritage treks , we come across Goljung Pass which is a perfect viewpoint for outstanding views of Langtang and Kerung. Just before Nagthali, you can enjoy the hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani. And moving ahead to Thuman, you can see ancient monasteries and houses with beautiful wood carvings. The night stay at the guesthouses in Tamang villages throughout the trek will offer you an opportunity to experience the warm hospitality of people residing there.

Our experienced guide will take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO heritage site which represents the political and historical values of Nepalese civilization.
We then proceed to Swayambhu Nath Temple, also known as ‘Monkey Temple’ thanks to its adorable colony of monkeys that run free. This temple is the symbol of harmony between Buddhists and Hindus. At the top of the stupa you will have a splendid birds-eye view of Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings.
We continue to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a holy place for Hindu devotees. Especially interesting is the holy cremation area where preparations and daily cremation ceremonies take place. From here we return to the hotel.
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and escort you to the vehicle which will take you to the Syabru Besi. We drive north-west to Kathmandu enjoying the views of lush hills and terraced farmlands until we reach Syanbru Besi. Spend your night at a guesthouse in Syabru besi. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
We leave Syabru Besi and ascend up for around an hour and half to a vantage point from where we can get some outstanding views of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and Goljang valley. Applauding the beauty from the point, we descend down for an hour until we reach Galjang valley. We follow the trail and walk for around three hours to a Tamang village called Galtang. You can enjoy warm greetings from local people with homemade local drink and local songs in Galtang. Stay at a guesthouse in Galtang for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Leaving Galtang, we head towards Tatopani which is quite popular for the natural hot water springs it possesses. Today would be the longest day of our journey however a bath in the hot water spring at Tatopani would act as an ailment to soothe away all the pains and tiredness. At first, we descend down to Thangbuchet (a place near Chilime village). We can see the Chilime Hydropower Dam at Bhotekoshi river from this place. As we enjoy our lunch, we ascend up to cross a hanging bridge to Tatopani. We stay at a guesthouse in Tatopani for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Today, we follow our trail that ascends up to Nagthali Danda, open grassland that offers some fascinating views of snow clad mountains. We pass Brindang village on the way and continue ascending up to Nagthali danda. We leave the Danda and descend down to Thuman village. Thuman village is beautiful Tamang village with Tibetan influenced Buddhist culture. Therefore, we can find the influence of Tibetan Buddhistculture in this place. The people in this place are fun loving. We can see them singing and dancing in the evening in their own language. We spend our night at a guesthouse in Thuman. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
We continue with our journey and head towards Timur which is an old trade route to Tibet. In the remembrance of Nepal Tibetan relationships, there is a fort set up here which is a historical reminder of a good relation between people of the area and Tibet that has existed since many centuries. We stay at a guesthouse in Timur for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Today, we leave Timur and head towards Briddhim which is a Tibetan Buddhist village that lies in the foothill of Lantang Himal. There are around forty three houses in the village made up of stones that are spread in Z shape. The village consists of ancient Tibetan immigrants which have led to the influence of Tibetan culture in this area. The culture and tradition in Briddim village resembles with that of the Tibetan villages. We stay at a guesthouse in Briddim for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Today, we descend down to Syabru Besi. We walk for around three hours and pass various Tamang villages on the way to Syabru besi. As we walk through the trail, we will be blessed with the magnificent views of lush hills and Himalayas. We stay at a guesthouse in Syabru Besi for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Today, we take a vehicle at Syabru bensi and drive for around eight hours along a lush scenic path to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we check into the hotel and rest for the while. We spend our night at a hotel in Kathmandu. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

This time I climbed the Mardi Himal hiking route. 1,770 M to 4,200 M climb Fishtail Peak still appeared in the thick clouds which was very impressive.VerifiedAeris L2024-03-02Unforgettable hiking trip in Nepal The Nepali tour leader is very considerate and will pay attention to every move of the group members and provide assistance at any time. I had a great time on this trip, and I would like to thank the staff for their assistance and care along the way.VerifiedManish Pradhan2024-02-24Mardi Trip - best value, quality support & guide, worthwhile trip I took a 4 day hike to Mardi Himal while on a family trip to Nepal. I wasn’t sure of the route at first. It turned out to be best decision. The upclose view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Fishtail was unbelievable, & out of this world. We stayed at Badal Danda for couple of nights which provided the 360 view of the mountains on the north and pokhara valley, poonhill area on the south. You could do the hike 2-3 days but if you really want to soak in the views and get mesmerized by it, you might take the full 4-5 days route. Intrepid guide Suman Gurung was a real professional. He really understood the route and had great connections with the locals which made the trek extra special. Suman bhai brought a calm demeanor, encouraging & supportive attitude when I was struggling a bit during few uphill hike. Overall, I really enjoyed the hike and doing it with Suman bhai made this trip a memorable one. I would recommend Intrepid team and this route to any beginner looking to explore what Himalayas has to offer.VerifiedPinfan L2023-12-18Beautiful E B C The 18-day journey was truly unforgettable! Not only are the scenery of Nepal’s mountains and villages breathtaking, but the kindness and enthusiasm of the people are even more touching! In particular, the mountain guides and porters who led us gave us great help. Many of our teammates who were not used to the high mountain temperatures became ill, but everyone still went to E B C safely and excitedly! Very unforgettable tripVerified悦 高2023-12-17Extremely Amazing EBC Trekking Experience great experience Everest base camp trekking with this company, our guide Bheg and Shiva, also porter. We had a great time enjoyed the experience with them. And arrived back safely! Definitely recommend this company, guide and porter!VerifiedS B2023-11-09EBC trek I completed the EBC trek solo with my guide Hem and porter Ram. It was an amazing experience though the trip had a few challenges: our flights to Lukla were cancelled due to poor weather and I developed a chest infection part way up the ascent. What was impressive was how the team (largely Hem and Santa) managed to quickly problem solve and find alternatives (e.g., hired a jeep to drive us to an alternate route to the trail) and connected me with stellar medical care. Despite these setbacks, we still managed to reach base camp! The flexibility of this team is quite noteworthy and it was clear they are experienced in handling these kinds of issues. The tea houses I stayed in were great and they served delicious food. I was never cold at night due to the really warm sleeping bag they rented to me. I was always encouraged to hike at my own pace, and to make sure I was eating and drinking enough. Communication with the team was excellent throughout and I felt well supported. The team was very punctual, responsive, and reliable. Hem is a fun, upbeat, thoughtful and friendly guide who was so helpful on this trek. He added personal touches to the trip like booking my favourite tea house in Namche on our descent. He and Ram have incredible work ethics which should be highlighted. They were always available, and when I was sick, Hem (and later Santa) accompanied me to the doctor and sat with me, saying all the right things to make me feel better. Hem is a good photographer as well, and took some beautiful pictures of us along the way. Because of my illness, I ended up having to cancel my ABC trek which was supposed to happen afterward. Again, the team (Santa and Hem) were able to pivot quickly and developed a sightseeing tour of Pokhara that was really fun, and salvaged my vacation. Overall, this was a great experience and I’m already thinking of coming back for more!Verifiedkokohsu2023-10-25Such a good one!
