Pikey Peak, escape the crowds
If you're looking for incredible mountain views without the crazy crowds, this is the trek for you. The route was delightful, and scenery was breathtaking! What really made the trip successful, was the team Nepal Intrepid Treks. Our guides, Kamal, Hem, and Jiban, provided careful attention to us and we chatted and laughed along the way. It felt more like trekking with friends than a guided tour. A couple of things to note: There were a few days with longer walks, which meant we sometimes ate a little later or arrived at the guesthouse later than usual. It wasn't a big deal, just part of the adventure. Also, if you're trekking in winter, be prepared for fog in the afternoons. One pleasant surprise was that most of the guesthouses had plugs in the rooms, which was great for charging my devices.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu
Nepal Intrepid Treks will be your dedicated travel companion until you return to your home country. Once you arrive at Kathmandu airport, we will be there to pick you up and take you to your hotel. Accommodation for our valued customers includes room and breakfast in a three star hotel in Kathmandu.
Take in the impressions of Nepal as we drive you from the airport to your hotel. We will assist you with the check-in and provide you with further information regarding your Everest Base Camp Trek. You may then have a rest or stroll through the bustling, colorful streets and alleys of Kathmandu.
Day 02: Drive to Kodari and then to Nyalam
Today we catch up our vehicle early in the morning. The vehicle will escort us to Nepal China border i.e. Kodari. On the way, we can stop at Tatopani and enjoy hot water bath. At the immigration point, all the custom formalities will be cleared and then we will further drive to Nyalam via Zhangmu. We stay at a hotel in Nyalam for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 03: Acclimatization at Nyalam
Today, we spend our day in Nyalam for acclimatization purpose. As we are driving up to higher elevation, altitude sickness can cause a problem. Therefore, we drive slow but safe. The view of Tibetan plateaus, mountains and pristine nature looks stunning. We stay at a hotel in Nyalam for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 04: Nyalam to Dongba
Today, we leave Nyalam and head towards Dongba. On the way, we cross a pass called Lalung La at an elevation of 16000ft. From the pass; we can get an awesome view of Paigu Tso lake and Brahmaputra river which is truly breathtaking. We continue through the ride until we reach Dongba. We stay at a guesthouse in Dongba for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 05: Donga to Mansarovar
Today, we drive ahead until we reach our real destination i.e. Mt. Kailash and the holy Mansarovar Lake. On the way, we pass Mayumu La pass at an elevation of 17000ft. This is the highest point that we will be driving throughout our entire tour. Once, we reach Mt, Kailash and Mansarovar lake, the wild and surreal form of mountains, high Altitude Lake will fascinate us. We can stay either at a camp or Chieu Gompa for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 06: Mansarovar to Tarchen
Early in the morning, we wake up and take a dip in the holy lake of Mansarovar. It is said that all our sins will be forgiven by God and we will be blessed with bliss if we take a bath in that lake. After completing our bath and parikrama, we drive towards Tarchen. Tarchen is a base camp for Kailash parikrama. During the auspicious religiously important dates, the base camp is filled with tents with pilgrims. Overnight at a guesthouse (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 07: Tarchen – Tarboche to Dirapuk
Today, we actually start our Kailash yatra. The path starting from Tarchen is also known as Asthapath which means “Way of Faith”. We walk along a rocky cliff and pass waterfall to Dirapuk. The whole landscape is wild but alluring. The blue sky with hint of few white clouds is absolutely amazing. The random view of face of Mt. Kailash will add to our walking journey. The atmosphere around will give us a heavenly feeling. Overnight at a guesthouse in Dirapuk (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 08: Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk
We continue our trail up until we reach Dolma La Pass. At Dolma La pass, the weather can be quite unreliable. Therefore, it is recommended to cross the pass as early as possible to avoid storm and bad weather. From the top of the pass, we descend down to Gauri Kund. After visiting Gauri Kund, we continue our trek to Zuthulpuk. Overnight at a guesthouse in Zuthulpuk (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 09: Zuthulpuk – Tarchen to Mansarovar – Dongba
Today is the last day of our parikrama. In the morning, we explore the temples, shrines around the Milarepa cave. Then we retrace our jouney back to Tarchen. From Tarchen, we drive in our land cruiser to Dongba. Overnight at a guesthouse (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 10: Drive to Nyalam
We join the road that takes us to the Nepal- china border and drive towards Tingri. Moving forward from Tingri, we cross two high passes namely Lalung La (5124m) and Shung La (5200m). From the pass, we will be rewarded with spectacular views of the mountain peaks like Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Menlungtse and Gauri Shankar. Leaving the pass, we descend down to Nyalam. Overnight at a guesthouse in Nyalam (Breakfast included)
Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu
Today, we bid Tibet a goodbye and enter Nepal. We fulfill all the formalities in border and cross the friendship bridge over Bhotekoshi river. We enter Kodari border and drive to Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel (Breakfast and lunch included)
Day 12: Leisure Day
A leisure day in Kathmandu! You can utilize the day on your own! Explore the streets of Kathmandu or opt out for visit to some popular places as per your preferences. There are many malls in the city, therefore, you can also utilize the day by shopping in the malls of Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu (Breakfast included)
Day 13: Farewell
Your guide will escort you to airport before your scheduled flight for your journey ahead. Hope you had a great time with us. (Breakfast included)
