Bhutan Experience Tour

A flight to Paro takes you across the Himalayas to Bhutan. The flight in itself is nothing less than a mountain flight. You pass above the Himalayas admiring the magnificence of snow-capped mountains standing tall one after another. The flight is also an opportunity to pass Jumolhari peak and Jichu Drake peak. As you arrive at the airport in Paro, your guide i.e. our Bhutanese crew will pick you up and escort you to a hotel for check in. Get refreshed and rest for a while. In the evening, walk round the city on your own will. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.(Lunch and dinner included.)

Today is a sightseeing day in Thimpu. We will visit the places of cultural and historical importance. We start with a drive to Memorial Chorten which was built in the memory of third king of Bhutan. Then we head to Changangkha monastery, Nunnery temple, Institute of Zorig Chusum (it is commonly known as painting school), National library and Folk Heritage museum respectively. We further visit traditional paper factory, Tashichhodzong and a giant statue of Buddha placed on a hill that dominates the whole city. In the evening, we can wander around the city on our own.Overnight at a hotel in Thimpu. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)

After the breakfast in hotel, we drive towards a wonderful village of Punakha. The drive today is full of lush scenery as we move along the sheer glory of nature. We stop at a tea house in Dochu La Pass which offers the best views of the mountains. We can also visit DrukWangyal Monastery which is a masterpiece. With the unique art, crafts and architecture, this monastery depicts the fine works of art and crafts. After our visit to monastery, we drive downhill through the rhododendron, fir and oak forests to Lobesa. We take our lunch and hike through rice fields up to Chimi Langkhang temple. It is believed that any infertile women would be blessed with a child if she visits this holy temple. From the temple, we further drive ahead to Punakha. This day is dedicated to the splendour of Punakha village as we hike up to see the valley. After breakfast, we start our hike up to the village. We cross a suspension bridge over Mo Chu River and continue the well levelled trail along the river to village. In the village we meet the locals and walk through the farmhouses and farmlands.We continue our hike to Khamsum Yulley Chorten that was built for World Peace. The view of the valley from up here is phenomenon. After admiring the beauty of mountains and lush landscape, we descend down to our hotel.Overnight at a hotel in Punakha.(Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)

We drive for about 7 hours to Bumthang. The road climbs from Wandue and we drive uphill to Pele La pass (3400m). We stop at the pass for the spectacular views of the snow clad peaks that includes the sacred peak of Bhutan – Mt. Chomolhari. As we cross Pele La pass, we descend down and pass the villages of Rukubji, Chendebji, Sephu, Langtel and many others. After lunch at Trongsa, we drive to Jakar and climb up to Yotong La. From the La, we descend down toChumey valley which is first of the four Bumthang valleys. We further pass the villages of Zugney and Prakar and cross Kiki la pass to Bumthang. Overnight at a hotel. We spend the day in Bumthang sightseeing the places of importance and magnificence. Bumthang Sightseeing includes the sites like Jambay Lhakhang, JakarDzong, Chamkhar Lhakhang, Kurje temple, Tamshing Monastery, Kenchosum temple and Swiss farm area. Jambay Lhakhang is a geomantic temples founded in 7th century by a Tibetan King SongtsenGompo and JakarDzong is one of the largest dzong in Bhutan, with impressive fortress walls, elegant structure but rather simple interior. Similarly, Kurjey Lhakhang is a sacred power place where Guru Rinpoche left the imprint of his body on the solid rocks. Next on our tour is Tamshing Temple. Lastly, we visit Swiss farm Area. It is a small factory that lies on the other side of the river and produces Swiss Cheese, Bumthang honey, apple wine and local beer. Overnight at ahotel in Bumthang. In the morning, we stroll around the Bumthang market and shop in case we find anything alluring or necessary. Then we head towards Punakha. We drive along the road to Punakha and stop at ChendebjiChorten (Stupa) for lunch.  This chorten stands majestically along the highway and connects west to east. The ground by the side serves as famous site for picnic lunch. This monument was believed to have been built to defeat demons dwelling around the area. It architecturally resembles to Boudhanath stupa in Nepal. After visiting the stupa, we drive forward and cross two passes on our way to Punakha. We start our day with visit to – Punakha Dzong which is known for its stunning location between the rivers like an anchored ship. Leaving Punakha, we drive back to Paro via Dochula pass. On the way, we stop atThimphu for lunch and continue our drive to Paro. As we arrive atParo, we visit the RinpungDzongwhich means “fortress of the heap of jewels”. The Dzong holds a long and fascinating history. The wooden galleries lining the courtyard of the RinpungDzong possess fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lord. Exploring the fine arts of dzong, we drive to the Kichu Lhakhang. It is the oldest and most sacred temple of Bhutan. Overnight stay at the hotel (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

We start our day with a hike to Tiger’s nest monastery. Tiger’s nest monastery is one of the most popular monasteries in the town that owes its own importance. According to a mythology, Guru Rinpoche has fled on a back of tigress to meditate in a cliff and it is the place where the monastery stands now. It is also popular for its dramatic location at the edge of the cliff. After exploring the monastery and its rich crafts, we descend down to Paro.
